Even with work being a pain in the ass, I've been able to consistently workout this week, which has me pretty pumped. I went Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and I felt like I was able to perform a lot better than the weeks before. Jason and Rick, our trainers, even mentioned it me that I had been slacking lately. When I heard that, I think I may have put on my best performance in weeks. I love that challenge! I took yesterday as a rest day (though I felt like I really didn't need it physically) and hung out with some friends. I'm trying this whole "take control of your life" thing and the getting out part definitely helps.
Today's WOD looks interesting:
4 Rounds for time of:
- Run 400 meters
- 5 Rounds of Cindy (Cindy is 5 Pull Ups, 10 Push Ups, 15 Squats)
Running has never been a strength of mines and I'll have to push myself to post a good time. I plan to go tomorrow morning also. I haven't been able to make it on Saturdays for the past 4 or 5 weeks and I'm looking to change that (though I do goto 24-hour fitness for basketball and a little weight lifting). Crossfit just feels like the perfect way to start a Saturday, with a little Paleo grocery shopping to follow. Sunday will be a basketball/light weight-lifting day for me. I'm looking to take 2 rest days a week and Sunday will probably always be one, along with another random day where I just can't make it.
One last thing, I decided that I'm going to start using videos to help coach myself on technique when I'm not at the gym. It's a lot easier to fix things when I can see it versus just hearing it. Frank was there with me Wednesday to act as camera man, when he's not around I'll have to find a replacement. Shouldn't be too hard. Here are a couple vids I made below, along a couple of other ones I've probably shown anyone who'd reads this.
HSPU - Weird how I lean a bit to the left on here. I'll have to check that out.
Power Snatches - The jump looks absolutely weird but it makes the bar FLY up. I need to work on that. Also, I disengage my arms too early losing a lot of explosion. It's a lot easier to see after watching this vid.
Dunking Vid #1 - This was after one of my IBM league basketball games. My legs were gone, but I still have a bit of energy left to get up there.
Dunking Vid #2 - Night and day from the first one, though the quality is TERRIBLE! This was made about 3 months after the first video and I have a lot more explosion and control. Even back to doing more advanced dunks, like windmills, which I never thought I'd ever do again.
